Employment Advisor
The Growth Company’s (GC) Employment team is hiring an Employment Advisor to provide guidance and training for unemployed individuals, helping them progress into employment, training, and education. As part of The Restart Scheme, you will offer personalised support for up to 12 months to help people find local jobs and overcome employment challenges.
We help to make a lasting difference to the lives of people throughout the North of England and beyond, by supporting individuals to gain meaningful employment. Our highly skilled advisers and keyworkers work with a range of individuals; from people who have found themselves recently out of work, to those with complex barriers such as physical disabilities, mental ill-health and debt.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and deliver advice, guidance, and training for unemployed individuals.
2. Operate referral and liaison procedures with agencies (., JCP, colleges, employers).
3. Establish and deliver one-to-one and group activities, including assessments and job search sessions.
4. Provide one-to-one interventions at induction, assessment, and follow-up appointments.
5. Refer customers to internal and external agencies for further support.
6. Plan and deliver training and other interventions for each customer.
7. Facilitate group learning to improve employability.
8. Report safeguarding concerns and participate in team activities like tender writing and developing new services.
About You:
9. Ideally working in training, guidance, advice and counselling environments.
10. Previous experience working with vulnerable customer groups.
11. Working to targets with excellent knowledge of the local labour market, methods of recruitment and awareness of growth industries.
12. Good knowledge of welfare to work and the customer base.
13. Knowledge of guidance and national standards.
14. Rapport building skills, professional and articulate.
Skills Required:
15. Must have previous experience working within sales, customer service, welfare to work industry.
16. The ability to work under pressure in a high-performance environment.
17. Well-developed IT skills, including MI systems, spreadsheets and diary management, email, data security.
18. Able to work to key performance indicators and challenging targets.
19. Ability to network and promote the organisation.
