Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role as a Principal NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) engineer? Do you have extensive experience in noise, vibration and harshness analysis, and mitigation in applications such as powertrain, transmissions and electric motors? Are you ready to set up a new technical function and develop the tools and processes for this area? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you About Advanced Electric Machines Advanced Electric Machines (AEM), part of the Advanced Electric Machines Group, was formed in November 2016 as a spin out from Newcastle University. Our site is based in Washington, Tyne and Wear, with very close & accessible links to fantastic North East cities; Newcastle upon Tyne & Durham Fast forward to 2024, AEM has worked with industry partners, vehicle manufacturers (globally) and academics to develop the most sustainable & highest performing powertrain solutions for electric vehicles across various industries. Our technology is changing the perception of electrification, and when applied, it leaves more rare earth & copper in the groundwhere it belongs We have set world records in efficiency and power density and won prestigious awards for our game-changing products. We have big plans and want to make a difference. Do you? What you'll do: As a Principal Development Engineer, with Noise, Vibration & Harshness experience, you will be responsible for leading the NVH analysis and testing of our motor systems, using various tools and methods such as finite element analysis, modal analysis, acoustic and vibration measurements, to assess and drive the required design to improve the NVH quality of our products This is a new focus for the team so you will be directly involved with developing and implementing NVH toolsets and analysis processes to enable you to propose design solutions for our new products to ensure they meet the customer requirements and standards You will be able to demonstrably contribute technically as an individual, lead projects and mentor other members of the team We'd love you to have: MEng degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant discipline, or a demonstrable level of industrial experience in a relevant industry Extensive relevant industrial experience preferably in a high-volume development and production environment. Automotive experience would be desirable. Vast knowledge of NVH analysis and mitigation through modelling and test of rotating electric machines, transmissions, powertrains and other associated systems such as inverters. In return you'll get: An opportunity to work for a company producing cutting edge electric motor and powertrain technologies for customers worldwide. The chance to join a growing business and manage your own team; where your achievement will be valued, visible and recognised. The opportunity to get valuable hands-on experience with our revolutionary motor systems, while exploring and developing on your ideas.
