Job Description:
Stafford’s new-look Gatehouse Theatre is the jewel in the crown of the county town. The Gatehouse Theatre is a semi-producing house that provides opportunities for creativity. Creating new and innovative theatre is important to us, from the annual Shakespeare at Stafford Castle to an excellent Youth Theatre programme, not to mention some of the best touring productions. Your involvement will be key.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Stage Technician with strong all-round skills to join our team. The theatre is an exciting venue presenting a busy programme of drama, music, and comedy throughout the year, as well as producing our own productions, including Youth Theatre, Pantomime, and our acclaimed Shakespeare production.
Working with the technical team, the Senior Stage Technician is responsible for delivering stage requirements on all productions, events, and activities in the main theatre, the MET studio, and external events. Essential skills include theatre lighting & ETC desk programming, with a working knowledge of sound installation & operation being desirable. Theatrical staging experience is essential.
The role involves providing high-quality technical support to all shows and venue users, supporting Stafford Castle's annual Shakespeare event, and other events managed by Freedom Leisure.

Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday - Sunday (rota basis)
Requirements:
* Knowledge of current stage trends and equipment
* Manual handling and lifting techniques
* Assist in maintaining and developing risk assessments with the Technical Manager
* Ladder and tallescope training
* Ability to read and understand lighting and stage plans
* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
* Good team player and communicator
* Ability to work independently
* Positive, proactive, self-motivated, and flexible
* Genuine interest in the arts
* Comfortable working at heights
* Willingness to work evenings and weekends
* Desire to learn and develop skills
* A DBS check is required
* Industry-recognised rigging qualification or certification
* Working at height rescue training
* Experience as a Stage Technician in a producing theatre
* Sound knowledge is desirable
* Knowledge of cinema projection & AV (training available)
