Job Purpose
The Product Director – RX Web (Pharmacy) is a pivotal and high-impact role within the business. Acting as the central hub between customers, technology, commercial teams, marketing, and leadership, the Product Director will own and lead the product strategy and roadmap for RX Web.

RX Web is a market-leading, web-based pharmacy system serving the UK community pharmacy sector. It plays a critical role in supporting dispensing workflows, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and commercial performance for pharmacies across the UK.

This role is responsible for translating market insight, customer needs, regulatory requirements, and commercial objectives into a clear, well-documented, and executable product roadmap. It requires a strong product leader with deep UK pharmacy domain expertise, commercial awareness, and the confidence to drive decisions, challenge assumptions, and lead cross-functional alignment.
Product Portfolio Ownership
The Product Director will have end-to-end ownership of:

RX Web

A leading web-based pharmacy management system serving UK community pharmacies, supporting dispensing, workflows, compliance, integrations, and commercial operations.

While the initial focus is on RX Web, the role may expand over time to include additional pharmacy-related products or services as the portfolio evolves.

Key Stakeholder Relationships
Internal:
Technology leadership, engineering teams, commercial & sales teams, marketing, customer support, and senior leadership.
External:
Community pharmacy customers, pharmacy groups, industry bodies, partners, vendors, and other stakeholders across the UK pharmacy ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
Own the Product Strategy & Roadmap
Own, shape, and lead the RX Web product roadmap, ensuring it reflects market needs, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
Success is when → The roadmap is clear, commercially grounded, agreed with leadership, and well understood across the organisation.

Market & Customer Insight
Maintain a strong, up-to-date understanding of the UK pharmacy sector, including funding models, operational pressures, regulatory obligations, and competitive dynamics.
Success is when → Product decisions clearly reflect real market needs and position RX Web strongly against competitors.

Product Scoping & Definition (Hands-On)
Create and own clear written scope, feature definitions, and requirement documentation that sit between strategy and delivery. These documents act as the alignment layer between product, technology, commercial, and marketing teams.
Success is when →
Engineering teams have unambiguous input to create their own detailed technical designs
Commercial and marketing teams clearly understand what is being built, why, and how it should be positioned
There is a single, trusted source of product truth with minimal re-interpretation or rework

Partnership with Technology
Work closely with technology leads to ensure priorities, context, and requirements are well understood and deliverable.
Success is when → Engineering teams have clarity, momentum, and minimal avoidable rework.

Commercial Alignment & Growth Enablement
Work closely with sales and commercial teams to ensure the product supports growth, retention, pricing strategy, and competitive differentiation.
Success is when → Sales teams are confident selling RX Web and the product is clearly positioned as a market leader.

Marketing Enablement
Partner with marketing to support go-to-market activity, product launches, messaging, and competitive positioning.
Success is when → Marketing outputs accurately reflect product capability and resonate with the pharmacy market.

Stakeholder Leadership & Communication
Lead regular roadmap and product updates, clearly communicating priorities, trade-offs, risks, and decisions.
Success is when → Stakeholders are aligned, informed, and confident in product direction.

Regulatory & Industry Awareness
Ensure product direction reflects UK pharmacy regulation, NHS policy, and industry standards.
Success is when → RX Web remains compliant, credible, and future-ready.

Customer Advocacy
Act as a strong voice of the customer, balancing listening with leadership to deliver meaningful, high-impact improvements.
Success is when → Customer adoption, engagement, and satisfaction improve measurably.

Role Success KPIs
Customer Adoption & Growth – Growth in RX Web usage, new customer wins, and retention
Customer Satisfaction (NPS / CSAT) – Measurable improvement in customer sentiment
Customer Retention – Strong retention across independent and group pharmacies
Product Engagement – Active usage of core workflows and adoption of new features
Delivery Predictability – Clear, transparent communication around roadmap delivery
Commercial Impact – Evidence that product direction supports sales success and market positioning

Person Specification

Essential:
Significant experience working with UK pharmacy software systems, ideally in:
Product management or product leadership
Product development
Commercial or go-to-market roles within pharmacy technology
Deep understanding of the UK pharmacy sector, including operational, regulatory, and commercial dynamics.
Desirable:
Experience working with community pharmacy groups or large pharmacy chains
Experience in SaaS or web-based healthcare platforms
Experience working closely with sales and marketing teams in competitive markets

Knowledge & Skills
Proven ability to own and lead a strategic product roadmap
Strong commercial awareness and competitive mindset
Deep domain knowledge of UK pharmacy workflows and challenges
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Comfortable making decisions, setting direction, and driving alignment
Able to balance listening with leadership
Data-informed prioritisation and decision-making
Strong sense of ownership and accountability for outcomes
