Job Requirements
A Repair Engineering team is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of repairs for the aviation gas turbine engine fleet. The team is instrumental in supporting Customer repair shops to meet financial targets and enhancing their repair capability and managing non‑conforming parts in order to service the end users of aviation gas turbine products.
The Repair Engineer is an individual and team contributor who will work to make decisions, apply concepts, and resolve issues on assigned projects guided by established business policies, procedures, standards, and best practices. The role impacts the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the team.
Job Description
Desired Characteristics
* Prior repair, manufacturing and/or design engineering experience, including non‐conformance to design intent.
* Familiarity with the working process of gas turbine engines and ability to interpret gas turbine engine assembly drawings.
* Familiarity with after‑market maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) processes.
* Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems.
* Ability to document and plan.
* Early adopter of change, adjusting to find faster, simpler approaches that are impactful.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Development of repair solutions and recommending inspection methods to meet short‑term and long‑term business needs.
* Analyze to substantiate component repair solutions and/or non‑conformance in support of engine overhaul.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, the GD&T associated with that drawing and perform tolerance stack‑up analysis.
* Collaborate with global engineering organizations and support functions as required (such as design, stress, materials, systems engineering, etc.).
* Work across functions in the development, implementation, and final industrialisation of a repair to support repair shops.
* Generate change in repair development documents and engine repair manuals.
* Leverage prior experience and knowledge and broaden knowledge of one’s own technical discipline to meet product deliverables. This may require use of multiple internal and external resources outside of one’s function to help arrive at a decision.
* Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers, including leadership.
* Share engineering information and promote open dialogue, including timely communications on significant issues or developments.
* Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks is consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
* Develop specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serve as best practice/ quality resource. Have awareness of latest technical developments in own area.
* Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Take a new perspective on existing solutions. Use technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of one’s function to arrive at decisions.
* Explain difficult or sensitive information; work to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Required Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Manufacturing preferred).
Required Skills
* PC‑based Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), UG NX, PLM Teamcenter, Salesforce, and other specified applications to complete mechanical design activities.
* Articulate, able to provide written and oral communications to internal and external stakeholders, including presentations of technical findings.
Familiarisation and training shall be provided on proprietary software applications. Ongoing personal development opportunities.
