Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Speech and Language Therapist within the Support for Learning Service. The Service comprises highly specialist staff across a range of areas of ALN, including Specialist Teachers, Specialist Teaching Assistants and Sensory Support workers, and is part of the wider Inclusion Service. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about supporting learners in the Early Years.


Contract and Salary

Salary: Grade 9 (Equivalent to Band 7 Health) £40,777 to £45,091 per annum

Contract: 37 hours. Fixed term until 31/12/26


Responsibilities

The post involves working across the Early Years and Inclusion Services, undertaking a strategic, time-limited project focused on the continuum of care for children transitioning from pre-school settings into mainstream Nursery classes and continuing their educational journey. You will be instrumental in reviewing, analysing, and enhancing current practices around training, speech and language assessments, interventions, and information-sharing protocols between pre-school environments and mainstream schools. You will work collaboratively with early years practitioners, educational staff, and families to deliver recommendations for improved and consistent practice, ensuring that every child’s speech, language, and communication needs are understood and effectively supported as they begin their formal education journey and continue through primary and secondary school.


Qualifications and Experience

* Extensive post graduate clinical experience in their clinical area.
* Experience of managing complex caseloads.
* Experience of MDT/multi-agency working.
* Experience of delivering training to other professionals and external partners.
* Experience working with pre-school aged children in educational and/or clinical settings.
* Experience of research and/or audit and implementing evidence-based practice.
* Experience of liaising with and supporting Parents of CYP with Speech and Language Needs.
* BSc or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent qualification) preferred.
* Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

Additional Information

Closing date: 24 October. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure (adult and child barred list). The workstyle is an agile hybrid role with flexibility to work from home and various Council workplaces. Welsh language skills are not required, applications may be submitted in Welsh or English.
