Obsolescence Manager - Component Engineering
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take the lead in developing and delivering our client’s Component Obsolescence strategy – defining best practice, driving improvements and ensuring our products remain at the cutting edge of reliability and innovation.
You will work across a broad portfolio of complex products, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and influencing how the client manages its components throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Lead the review, development and maintenance of the obsolescence management processes.
* Proactively and reactively manage the obsolescence status of thousands of components across our missile and support equipment designs.
* Provide expert advice and reporting to design, equipment and portfolio teams.
* Collaborate closely with Component Engineers to analyze supplier data and trends.
* Influence decision‑making by promoting robust and coordinated obsolescence management practices.
* Share your expertise through design reviews, training and mentoring activities.
* Contribute to international obsolescence initiatives, helping to define and implement best practices across global teams.
Qualifications
* Proven experience or strong knowledge in obsolescence management, tools and techniques.
* Understanding of BS 62402:2001 requirements.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to produce clear, concise and professional engineering documentation.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with a collaborative mindset.
Desirable Skills
* Experience with tools such as Matrix PLM, SAP, Silicon Expert or IHS.
* A background in component or electronic engineering would be advantageous.
