Overview
Applications are invited for a fellow post in anaesthesia at Colchester General Hospital. The role combines delivery of postgraduate and undergraduate simulation with clinical duties.
Key Details
The appointment lasts 12 months, commencing August 2026. It has two components: a clinical component based at Colchester Hospital and a simulation coordination component.
Responsibilities
* Co‑coordinate simulation activity within the department and the Foundation Simulation Programme alongside Foundation Training Programme Directors.
* Deliver quality anaesthetic, perioperative and critical care services.
* Supervise junior staff, teach, train and participate in departmental governance and quality improvement meetings.
* Maintain an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota, complying with EWTD and a frequency of no greater than 1 in 8.
* Participate on rotas for ICU, theatres and/or delivery suite, depending on experience and competencies.
* Facilitate and teach in‑house simulation training in anaesthetics and critical care.
* Support the Foundation training simulation programme.
* Practice drills to enhance performance in high‑pressure, time‑critical areas.
* Work alongside the Trust Lead for Simulation to deliver trust‑wide simulation.
* Attend and participate in simulation faculty meetings.
* Work with colleagues to provide a service with the highest standard of care.
* Follow and maintain good working practice and collaborate with the multi‑professional team following care pathways and clinical guidelines.
