Overview
An established engineering and infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Designer to support the delivery of complex industrial and energy-sector projects across the UK.
This is a contract role and can be outside IR35.
Suited to a motivated designer with strong experience in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design, capable of producing high-quality technical deliverables while supporting junior team members and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce safe, practical and cost-effective EC&I design solutions in line with project and company procedures
* Develop design deliverables including:
o Loop diagrams
o Block cable diagrams
o Schematic diagrams
o 3D models
* Prepare associated documentation such as:
o Bills of materials
o Cable schedules
o Design packs
o Material requisitions
* Support proposal and project activities as assigned by the Lead or Chief Engineer
* Mentor and support less experienced designers
* Review and check drawings in accordance with internal quality procedures
* Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
* Ensure designs are developed with safety, operability and risk management at the forefront
* Promote safe working practices and ensure personnel are appropriately briefed and supported
Requirements
* ONC / OND / HNC / HND or equivalent engineering qualification
* Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar EC&I / industrial design environment
* Strong understanding of design working practices and installation requirements across industrial sectors
* Proficiency in CAD software and 3D modelling tools
* Experience with AVEVA PDMS is highly desirable
* Knowledge of UK engineering legislation, standards and regulations
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
