I have multiple chronic conditions and limited mobility. I have a younger head in an older body. I am looking for a part‑time personal assistant for 9 ¼ hours a week at £13 per hour (rate to increase in April 2026).
Also to help out with casual/bank hours is essential. Although I am looking for a bank/casual PA.

Mornings mainly, but not too early. Occasional split shifts. Various days arranged in advance to suit us both. I will be working alongside my current PA for the other allocated hours.
To include social time, support in hobbies, shopping, crafting workshops, and as part of my 6 hours for social activities.
Duties (various, depending on my needs)
* Assist with personal care when I am unable to move, including shower help.
* Empty the commode and dispose of bins.
* Help with hair, blow‑drying, and upper‑body dressing.
* Assist with socks, shoes, and dressing at times.
* Make or change the bed as required (weekly usually).
* Put washing on the air‑er and fold up if necessary.
* Carry items to my mobility car, garden, or other rooms.
* Help with positioning my mobility scooter.
* Tidy sofas and pick up dropped items.
* Assist with preparing vegetables, opening jars, and packaging.
* Medication reminders.
* Provide mental‑health support; an understanding of mental‑health problems is useful.
Additional Requirements/Information
* Prefer someone with experience in a care setting, empathetic, and understanding of depressive disorders.
* Someone with a good sense of humour.
* Comfortable with slower pace due to balance and cognitive concerns.
* Awareness of memory issues (not dementia).
* I have a motability car – a car driver would be useful except if you live in the West Pelton area.
* Able to visit local shops with me and make other shopping trips.
* Help with craft workshops.
* Assistance with cleaning and housework as needed.
* DBS check required (cost covered by the employer) and current employer references.
* I have a young dog; the applicant must be dog‑friendly and comfortable with the dog having free run of the house.
* Need to understand and respect my mental‑health needs.
This position is paid 4 weekly by direct payments to Durham County Council, on PAYE (not self‑employed).
