Careers Advisor - King Henry VIII Senior School Required from September 2026- 1 Year Fixed Term Contract Term Time plus 2 weeks Do you have the expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to inspire young people in making ambitious and informed decisions about their futures? King Henry VIII School is seeking an outstanding Careers Adviser to lead and deliver a high-quality, forward-thinking careers programme. This is a pivotal role, supporting students across the school in navigating key transition points and helping them to realise their aspirations with confidence and clarity. Working as part of the Coventry School Foundation, King Henry’s provides a forward thinking and contemporary education for girls and boys across the whole West Midlands region. Pastoral care is considered a strength of the school at every level and is incredibly important to pupil wellbeing. About the Role The Careers Adviser plays a vital role in supporting students at all stages of their educational journey. You will deliver a comprehensive programme of careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG), working closely with students, staff, parents and external partners, following the Gatsby Benchmarks. In this role, you will: Provide engaging one-to-one careers guidance to students across the school, particularly in Years 11 and VI Form Support students in making informed choices at key transition points, including GCSE, A Level, university and alternative pathways Guide students through application processes, including UCAS, apprenticeships and employment opportunities Deliver careers education as part of the PSHE programme and contribute to wider enrichment opportunities Organise visits, events and partnerships with universities, employers and other external organisations, conferences and careers shows Maintain and develop strong links with industry and higher education providers Support the Sixth Form team in delivering high-quality UCAS and apprenticeship processes, including advising on current developments Provide tailored advice for students pursuing competitive pathways, including apprenticeships and specialist routes Raise awareness of careers provision through events such as parents’ evenings, assemblies and open events Track and analyse student destinations to inform strategic development of the careers programme Lead the ongoing development of the school’s careers provision, ensuring it reflects best practice and innovation This is a varied and highly rewarding role, requiring energy, initiative and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
