Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd is seeking a skilled Projects Finance Manager with a minimum of three years post-qualification experience for a hybrid position based in Scotland. You will collaborate with our Project Management teams, providing financial insights to enhance cash flow and profitability, while supporting our rapid growth through regular site visits. We have works issued under various frameworks across Scotland. This hybrid role can be based out of Wood's Glasgow or Aberdeen offices.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager and working closely with other Projects Finance Managers, this pivotal role offers the opportunity to provide in-depth analysis and valuable insights into the financial dynamics of Transmission & Distribution projects.

As Projects Finance Manager Scotland, you will be a strategic partner to the Project Management teams. Your responsibilities will include providing financial analysis, performance evaluations, ensuring compliance, and focusing on cash flow and profit enhancements. You will also deliver precise forecasts and budgets to maintain a transparent financial outlook. Active engagement in site visits will enhance your commercial acumen and operational understanding. You will play a vital role in ensuring controlled performance amidst the ambitious growth strategies of the broader Transmission & Distribution business.

We welcome applications from experienced Projects Finance Managers with at least three years of post-qualification experience and a proven track record in forecasting & assurance, cash management & collection, project costings, and month-end reporting. Well-honed stakeholder management abilities are essential. While we welcome candidates from diverse industries, we may prioritize those with proven experience in construction or electricity supply.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities

Forecasting & Assurance

* Coordinate stakeholder inputs to prepare and present the End Life Forecast, incorporate it into fully supported Rolling and Annual Forecasts for consolidation
* Investigate variances in project cost, revenue, and cash performance to determine appropriate forecast assumptions and actions
* Ensure compliance with the Financial Management Framework, understanding, mitigating, and reporting financial risks
* Liaise with external and internal auditors
* Provide ad-hoc assistance and reporting on issues including risk reviews, problem-solving, and improvement plans

Cash Management & Collection

* Collaborate with Commercial/Project Teams to ensure timely submission of applications and invoices per contract terms
* Calculate and manage system cost-to-bill rate conversions
* Assess unbilled project amounts promptly

Accurate Project Costings

* Work with the project team to ensure accurate monthly cost accruals and provisions are recorded, supported, and understood
* Liaise with Financial Shared Services for timely and accurate cost allocations within the Cost/Work Breakdown Structure

Month-End Reporting

* Lead end-to-end project accounting activities and prepare monthly financial reports covering P&L, Accounts Receivables, Unbilled, Backlog validation to EPM reporting
* Ensure project data is submitted per system timelines
* Monitor financial targets, track performance, and manage improvement actions

Expected qualifications:

* Qualified CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent with at least three years post-qualification experience, including extensive Management Accounts and ERP/forecasting system experience
* Problem-solving skills, with a focus on effective solutions
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, stakeholder management, and commercial awareness
* Proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint, strong ethical values, and honesty in communication
* Highly organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines without compromising accuracy
* Willingness to travel to various sites and build strong working relationships
