Job Title:
Maintenance Operative/Handyperson
Reports to:
Home Manager
Job Overview: (Note - In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required)
· To provide maintenance services in accordance with current best practice, to the organisation's policy, procedures, and agreed standards, legislative requirements and relevant regulations, under the direction of the Home Manager.
· To action both planned and reactive maintenance issues which arise in the home, and be able to prioritise in terms of urgency.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Job
Role-specific Duties:
The Maintenance/Handyperson's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Carrying out routine statutory checks at the required frequency
· Ensuring accurate timely documentation of all routine checks
· Reporting any issues identified to the Home Manager
· Undertaking painting and redecoration when requested and required in order to maintain the standard of the home
· Liaising with external contractors to ensure mandatory service checks are completed at the required frequency
· Liaising with the Home Manager and the Group Estates Manager regarding any maintenance issues or projects within the home
· Implementing all necessary actions to meet and maintain the home's maintenance standards
· Systematically solving day-to-day issues which arise within the home and your scope of competence
· Maintaining clear records of all identified defects or faults, and their subsequent repair/redress
· Promoting and protecting the welfare of residents at all times
Working with Others:
· Developing effective working relationships with other colleagues at the home
· Developing effective working relationships with contractors who provide a service to the home
· Implementing and maintaining the home's quality assurance programme, as directed
· Support the induction of new employees at the home, as required
· Communicate appropriately and in a person-centred way with residents
Personal and Professional Development:
· Completing mandatory training and any other training, as directed by the Home Manager
· Taking responsibility for your own professional development through performance and development reviews
· To maintain appropriate maintenance skills, including undertaking training and development which may, from time-to-time, be required
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Pay: £14.00 per hour
