The UK Safran Electrical & Power team has expertise in designing and developing electrical systems comprising generators, power conversion, distribution and control, with developing expertise in electric motors for aircraft propulsion.

As a Senior Principal Stress Engineer at Safran Electrical & Power, you will play a vital role within the Engineering team, leading on Simulation work packages. You will directly influence product awareness and competitiveness, with an influence on budget identification in conjunction with program and engineering managers. You will use and develop a diverse range of techniques in order to perform various simulations, analysis and evaluations of components, assemblies and products. You will ensure this is carried out at all stages of the of the product design process, identifying initial opportunities through to successful operation.
The Role

Drive forward simulation work packages, planning schedules and milestones for the project
Where work packages are outsourced, liaising with the organisation and their personnel
Carry out thermal, vibration, structural Finite Element Analysis using Ansys Workbench
Perform simulations, analysis and evaluations of components, assemblies and products using various analysis tools and techniques e.g. hand calculations, FE analysis of static structural, dynamic, modal, vibration, thermal and stress analysis.
Solve technical problems relating to product design in order to achieve the programme objectives.
Support the simulation and means team with long-range planning for the team to ensure the development of team members and processes.
Provide training and guidance on stress, vibration, fatigue and rotor dynamics principles in order to grow the skill throughout the design community.

Desirable Experience

We are looking for candidates with a range of skills and experience, but we're also keen to help people grow and develop in this role. If you have some or all of the following, we'd love to hear from you:

Degree-educated in relevant engineering discipline
Solid understanding of product, assembly and component analysis, with experience of Ansys workbench
Can perform advanced stress hand calculations, structural (linear / non-linear) analysis, dynamic, modal, vibration, thermal and stress analysis
Experience in LS-Dyna and N-Code
Experience of rotary dynamics
Good knowledge of CAD tools and their capabilities
Experience of supervising others
Effective project management with, ideally, some client relationship management and commercial skills
Can produce competent technical reports
Good knowledge of materials and their properties and their use in engineering design
Experience in the aerospace industry would be beneficial
Awareness of CFD analysis would be beneficial
Evidence of written English at interview stage
