The Private Client Conveyancing Team
Shoosmiths’ Private Client Conveyancing Team provides a highly professional service designed to make buying or selling property as efficient and stress-free as possible. We are the largest firm of conveyancing solicitors accredited under the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme. Our service maintains high standards and is recognized in national consumer awards.
The Role
We are seeking an Assistant Paralegal to support our conveyancing team in delivering quality service with a customer focus. Law degree is not required.
Main Responsibilities
1. Gain basic knowledge of the conveyancing process, including post-completion work, and understand the roles of support teams such as New Business and Accounts.
2. Handle office administration tasks such as managing post, filing, file closures, and distributing faxes.
3. Prepare draft contract packages, all searches, exchange, and completion letters.
4. Support Paralegals in progressing transactions proactively with all stakeholders.
5. Assist in keeping task reports updated daily.
6. Maintain the case management system in an orderly and current state.
7. Manage client queries, assisting with calls as needed.
8. Draft non-standard, non-technical correspondence competently.
Full training will be provided by our in-house conveyancing trainer, and a mentor will support your development in day-to-day conveyancing transactions. Attendance at the office during the probation period is required for training and supervision, with potential for agile working upon successful completion.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, gained from experience in a customer service role, preferably in an office environment. You should enjoy teamwork, be adaptable to changing client needs, and be well-organized to prioritize work independently. A legal qualification (LLB, CILEX, CLC, etc.) is not essential but a keen interest in conveyancing and property law is necessary.
