Role: Scientist I, Anti-infectives, 12-month fixed term contract

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, typical working hours: 9am-6pm

Evotec is a leader in the discovery and development of novel therapeutics of all modalities with operational sites in Europe (UK, Germany, Italy and France) as well as the US. Evotec Alderley Park provides bespoke discovery and development services for new therapies to treat and prevent serious and life-threatening infections arising from bacteria, fungi and viruses. In addition, our pharmacology team is supporting cardiovascular, age-related and inflammation & immunity disease areas as well as DMPK and PD studies for a range of indications.

Role and Responsibilities
As Scientist I within the Evotec scientific team you will participate in the organisation, conduct, and delivery of pre-clinical studies to support multiple drug discovery projects: primarily, but not exclusively focussing on virology.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Preparatory work for studies, including reagents, laboratory setup, and microorganism cultivation.
2. Conducting study procedures, processing samples, and providing support across multiple areas as required.
3. Adherence to Evotec guidelines for accurate documentation of laboratory experiments.
4. Contribute to data analysis and the writing of study reports.
5. Ensure compliance with established procedures, protocols, and quality, regulatory, and safety standards.
6. Maintain a high standard of laboratory workspace organisation, supporting operational tasks such as compound receipt and inventory management.

9. Ability to execute experiments in an effective and timely manner, reporting progress to senior scientists or study leaders
10. Good attention to detail and excellent standards of data capture
11. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
12. Proficiency in IT, including routine use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and software such as GraphPad Prism
13. Highly adaptable and able to work effectively in a fast-moving environment
14. Ability to work with a closely interacting team to deliver to tight timelines
15. A flexible approach to working hours, and willingness to provide out of hours cover depending on study requirements are essential
Education & Experience
16. BSc (or equivalent) in a life sciences discipline with relevant focus OR equivalent relevant experience
17. Experience working in a laboratory at containment level 2, working with cell culture and viruses is essential; additionally, experience working with bacteria and/or fungi would be advantageous.
18. Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry or CRO environment would be advantageous although not essential
