About the Role
Our client, a leading engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Gas Projects to join their team on a permanent basis in Warrington. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact EPC projects across a range of sectors including Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, and Food.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical and piping engineering designs from concept through to execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Report to the Mechanical & Piping Engineering Manager and lead mechanical and piping design activities within multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will deliver engineering solutions across all project phases, from concept design to detailed execution.
You will take ownership of mechanical and piping design scope, ensuring delivery within time and budget constraints, while managing change control and interdisciplinary coordination. Participate in internal and external design reviews and ensure client acceptance of design deliverables. You will have the opportunity to deliver projects working in other sectors (Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, Nuclear, Chemicals, and Food), small and large projects.
Your Profile
* A degree (BEng or MEng) in Mechanical Engineering, preferably to Degree level (BEng or MEng).
* 5+ years of experience as a Lead, Senior, or Principal Engineer on multi-discipline engineering projects.
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent (preferred), Strong knowledge of general engineering and IGEM standards (preferred).
* Proven experience in mechanical design, including specifications, calculations, drawings, 3D models, and compliance assessments.
* Familiarity with piping design codes (ASME, BS EN) and regulatory frameworks such as PED and PESR.
* Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, E3D, and Caesar II.
* Good knowledge and experience with the production and/or having input to mechanical specifications, basis of design, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, 3D models, schedules, design risk assessments and directive compliance assessments.
* An understanding of change control procedures and the ability to lead design review meetings.
* Eligibility for UK security clearance (preferred)
