You will be involved in a variety of projects which have a focus on hydro-mechanical systems. A background in penstock and valve integration would be ideal, but candidates from a strong mechanical background will be considered. This role blends design, calculation, specification writing, and on-site engineering support. The successful candidate will be technically strong, highly practical, and comfortable working in both office and site environments. Key Responsibilities Design and integration of penstocks, valves, gates, and associated hydro-mechanical equipment Carry out structural and hydraulic calculations, including thrust block and leakage analysis Prepare and review general arrangement drawings, fabrication details, and installation drawings Produce technical specifications, scope documents, and project reports Support procurement by reviewing supplier designs and documentation Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and project requirements Create accurate 2D/3D models and drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) Manage drawing revisions and contribute to design reviews Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure buildability and quality Provide engineering support during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning Site work, conducting inspections, surveys, and problem-solving Candidate Profile Essential skills and experience Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline Strong competence in thrust and leakage calculations Proficiency in drafting and 3D modelling software (flexible on package) Experience in specification writing and technical reporting Full UK driving licence Willingness and flexibility to work off-site as required Desirable skills Familiarity with hydro, water, or infrastructure projects Proven experience with hydro-mechanical systems (penstocks, valves, or similar) Experience liaising directly with fabricators and installation teams Knowledge of relevant design standards (BS, EN, or equivalent) Mindset and approach Practical, solutions-focused, and not afraid to get hands-on at site Strong communicator, able to bridge technical and site-based teams Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to delivering quality outcomes What We Offer Competitive salary Opportunity to work on challenging and high-impact marine infrastructure projects Exposure to both office and site-based engineering If you are an experienced Project Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to utilise your skills within the marine industry, we would love to hear from you.
