Overview
Our Energy unit delivers integrated engineering and project management services across the power generation sector, including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks.
Role
We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with experience in the design of power plants, HV substations, HVDC interconnector converter stations and HV cable projects to join our Civil and Structural team. The role offers a diverse portfolio of work and advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Project Management
* Proposal Writing
* Scheme Costings
* Front End Engineering Design (FEED)
* Preparation of drawings for planning applications and tender packages
* Detailed Civil/Structural Design
* Design coordination across multidisciplinary teams
* Preparation of specifications
* Condition and structural assessment of existing structures to determine suitability for reuse
Requirements
* Advanced structural engineering knowledge, including load‑bearing capacity, material properties and design codes (Eurocodes, ASCE)
* Proficiency in structural analysis software (SAP2000, ETABS, or equivalent)
* Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM)
* Strong project management skills, including independent oversight of timelines, budgets and quality
* Ability to write compelling proposals and estimate project costs accurately
* Experience leading FEED activities for structural components
* Excellent multidisciplinary collaboration and conflict resolution abilities
* Attention to detail in drawing preparation and compliance with relevant standards
* Capability to assess existing structures for suitability and safety, considering reuse options
* Clear verbal and written communication skills
* Leadership mindset, including guidance of junior engineers
* Relevant experience in structural engineering; energy project experience is an advantage
Qualifications
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s)
* Professional Engineer (PE) licence is advantageous but not mandatory
