Role Overview
Cambridge, United Kingdom – The Perse School, an independent day school founded 1615, seeks a Head of Development to lead the School’s fundraising team and develop strategies to grow charitable income.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Development function, increasing philanthropic income and working with the Principal, governors and senior leaders.
* Deliver the School’s fundraising strategy, securing major gifts, community giving and managing relationships with donors.
* Manage the Development team, providing operational oversight and strategic direction.
* Build and maintain relationships with foundations, trusts, supporters and partners.
* Provide curriculum‑led development opportunities for pupils and parents.
Skills and Qualifications
* Belief in independent education and commitment to the School’s purpose, ethos and values.
* Successful fundraising experience in an educational environment or significant transferable experience.
* Interest and passion for fundraising and resilience to embrace challenges.
* Proven ability to influence at senior leadership level.
* Innovative ideas turned into successes.
* Warm communication and networking skills, building positive relationships.
* Strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Excellent attention to detail and long‑term perspective.
