What you'll be doing: As Facilities Maintenance Assistant, you'll be essential to help deliver everything that makes M.A.P the fabulous Nursery it is today: • Maintenance Excellence - Perform maintenance and light repairs to keep the facility safe and welcoming for children and families • Outdoor Environment - Maintain the amazing outdoor learning space including routine landscaping, trimming bushes, and supporting the natural play environment • Safety First - Carry out regular health and safety checks, ensuring premises are safe, clean, and well-maintained for staff, parents and visitors • Skilled Repairs - Paint and fill gaps, undertake light installation or joinery (e.g. build cabinets) within safety guidelines • Equipment Care - Repair equipment and appliances where appropriate, ensuring children have safe, functional resources • Professional Liaison - Identify major repair needs, contact tradespeople, obtain quotes and coordinate external professional work • Emergency Response - Handle urgent tasks like broken locks, ensuring minimal disruption to the nursery's operations • Team Support - Work collaboratively with nursery staff, maintaining a positive attitude with children, parents and colleagues • Storage & Safety - Ensure all tools and materials are stored safely away from children, parents and visitors • Community Pride - Support the team in promoting the nursery's professional image to current parents and the local community You'll thrive in this role if you have: • Proven experience in maintenance work (essential) • Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment • Good organisational skills, including ability to work within tight deadlines • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team, using your own initiative • Co-operative, reliable, customer responsive approach with a 'can do' attitude • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining safety standards • Good verbal communication skills and confident, warm manner with parents and staff • Basic health and safety awareness • Willingness to undertake additional training as required Benefits Package: • Long-term service bonuses - £250 at 5 years, £500 at 10 years, £750 at 15 years, £1,000 at 20 years, then £5,000 every 5 years thereafter • 28 days annual leave - Including 10 days Christmas closure, 5 days summer closure, plus 13 flexible days subject to approval • Highly discounted childcare for staff families • Uniform provided - Professional workwear supplied • Pension contributions - MAP contributes at statutory minimum of 3% • Staff community social events - Regular team building and social activities • CPD program - Ongoing professional development opportunities • Free onsite parking - Convenient and secure parking facilities Ready to be part of a team that's genuinely changing lives every day?
