Carers Federation, Caregivers Connected Service is seeking an experienced Young Carers Activity worker to lead the Young Carer and Young Adult Carer element of the service in Gateshead.

Hours: 16hrs per week (including Saturday)
Base: Aidan House, 401 Sunderland Road, Gateshead NE8 3HU
Salary: Band 1a Standard with actual salary £10,162 per annum
Reference: YC/GHCS
Accountable to: Carers Federation, Caregiver Connected Service Manager
Responsibilities
• Lead on the Young Carer and Young Adult Carer element of the service.
• Manage day‑to‑day line management and organization of the Young Carers team to ensure service delivery to the highest standards.
• Work alongside Service Manager and Team Leader. Coordinate activities and ensure smooth transition into wider Adult Caregiver services.
• Identify and engage young carers and young adult caregivers within the Gateshead community.
• Provide appropriate training and support to the team, ensuring compliance with Gateshead Safeguarding policies and Carers Federation procedures.
• Travel throughout Gateshead, transporting young carers to and from activities and meeting sessions when required.
• Support activities outside normal office hours and commit to regular sessional work.
Qualifications & Skills
* Proven experience of working with children & young people
* Proven experience of delivering and engaging in activities
* A good understanding of children & adults safeguarding
* Knowledge of risk assessments
* Knowledge of Gateshead geographical areas
* Friendly approach and willingness to get involved with activities
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to individual needs
* Ability to work as a team
* Reliable and flexible
* Ability to record accurate information on databases
* Ability to use a variety of IT systems
* Must hold a valid driving licence and be a car user
