An opportunity has arisen for two positions at our Paediatric Medical Secretary Team: one position supporting Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O) and one supporting General Paediatrics. These are full‑time Medical Secretary roles, working 37.5 hours per week.
You will support the existing medical secretaries and the team leaders in providing a quality and efficient service to Paediatric Consultants.
You will need to be a team player and will require high levels of organisation with the ability to prioritise your daily workload effectively and have a flexible approach to working alongside different members of the team or independently as required.
Responsibilities of this role cover a wide range of administration and secretarial duties including typing clinical correspondence, appointment scheduling, diary management and dealing with a wide range of telephone queries. A flexible approach to workload is essential.

There will be an opportunity to state if you would prefer to support Trauma & Orthopaedics or General Paediatrics consultants at interview.
Key Responsibilities
* You will be a passionate, driven and motivated team player with excellent problem solving skills.
* You will require high levels of tact, diplomacy together with time management skills and flexibility.
* Provide a comprehensive range of secretarial, administrative and waiting list support to the Paediatric Consultants & Team.
* Administration and clerical duties including typing of clinical correspondence, dealing with queries from parents/patients and other health professionals and escalating issues to the operational coordinator.
* Manage and organise your own workload, acting as a confident communicator and liaising with clinicians and clinical staff while multitasking.
Required Skills and Experience
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Understanding of the 18‑week RTT process.
* Knowledge of the Trust Patient Access Policy.
* Familiarity with medical terminology.
* Proficient in Word, Excel, Internet and email systems.
* Good keyboard skills.
* Audio typing experience (desirable but not essential).
