PHP Developer
Salary: £50,000
Location: Wakefield (Onsite)
WRK digital are working with an award-winning e‑commerce organisation that operates in a similar way to a bespoke software house. This is an excellent opportunity for a PHP Developer who enjoys working on varied, end‑to‑end projects and taking real ownership of their work.
The business builds and maintains a range of custom systems, so this role is ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail of a project, understanding requirements thoroughly, and delivering full lifecycle solutions.
The Role
You will be working across a mixture of systems including web applications, warehouse and logistics platforms, production systems, and automation tools.
Due to the bespoke nature of the organisation, you will be exposed to different codebases and technologies rather than a single, repetitive stack.
This is a proactive role suited to developers who like to identify problems, suggest improvements, and drive work forward independently. It is not a task‑only role; curiosity and initiative are essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain PHP-based applications across multiple systems
2. Work on full lifecycle projects from requirements through to delivery
3. Collaborate with internal teams to support operational systems
4. Deploy applications to cloud environments and contribute to CI/CD pipelines
5. Maintain and improve existing codebases while delivering new functionality
Required Skills and Experience
6. Commercial PHP development experience (Vanilla PHP, Laravel, or Symfony)
7. JavaScript experience
8. Exposure to AWS or Azure, including deploying applications and building pipelines
9. Strong MySQL experience
10. Excellent communication skills
11. A strong desire to learn and solve complex technical problems
