Renal Dietitian - Band 5/6 Development post
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team of renal dietitians who provide nutritional care to patients receiving care for renal disease.
This is a band 6 post, but a B5/6 development package can be agreed for a band 5 interested in working in renal dietetics.
This role will be based predominantly on the Lincoln renal unit, which is situated very close to Lincoln county hospital.
This is a part time role of 22.5 hours per week.
The role is fully supported and supervised by a very experienced renal specialist dietitian.
Main duties of the job
* Undertaking nutrition assessments, providing individualised treatment plans for renal patients
* Representing dietetics at regular multi-disciplinary team meetings
* Provide cross cover of other Lincolnshire renal sites as required in periods of absence, such as annual leave, sickness or vacancy
Job responsibilities
* Professional Practice: Maintain state registration to practice with the Health Professional Council; be responsible for timely and accurate documentation in line with the British Dietetic Association and ULH standards; collect and record appropriate data; undertake training and development; regularly update clinical knowledge and follow evidence‑based practice; effectively manage own time and clinical caseload.
* Follow all departmental and ULHT policies and procedures; contribute to the development of clinical policies and guidelines within renal services.
* Clinical: Provide a clinical dietetic service; advise on management, planning and development of dietetic treatment programmes; assess patients’ nutritional status and requirements; give dietary advice and recommendations, including use of parenteral and enteral feeding as required; take anthropometrical measurements, interpret biochemical results and adapt dietary treatment accordingly; provide service for morning, afternoon and twilight sessions.
* Produce or review diet sheets and nutritional resources in line with current guidelines and evidence‑based practice; produce specialist documentation including policy documents regarding nutritional support and renal dietetics.
* Participate in staff training and give lectures or talks to professional and clinical groups.
* Participate in the training of student dietitians.
* Represent ULHT Dietetic Department on appropriate multi‑disciplinary groups and committees, e.g. MDT, Leicestershire Region Dialysis Satellite Unit meetings.
Qualifications
* HCPC registration
* Post‑graduate training in specialist nutritional support applicable to renal
* Specialist post‑registration training in renal
* Post‑registration training in behaviour change
Previous Experience
* Experience in nutritional support in renal dietetics
* Experience in renal dietetics
Evidence of Particular: - Knowledge - Skills - Aptitudes
* Multidisciplinary teamwork
Other requirements
* Ability to travel across county to other sites
