Overview
Technician Demonstrator – University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD). Location: Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire. Permanent, full-time position. Salary: £31,236–£34,610 per year.
The Role
The post is primarily concerned with the planning, development and safe delivery of technical workshops within the field of Set Design & Production (Theatre, TV, Film & Events). The post holder will be required to demonstrate a range of equipment and materials across the portfolio of programmes including Set Design & Production, Acting, and the MA Portfolio. The post holder would supervise students in workshops and productions to provide knowledge and assistance as necessary. In addition, the role includes overseeing and maintaining equipment, monitoring stock control for theatres, rehearsal spaces and workshops, and ensuring spaces are clean, tidy, safe and secure. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to provide appropriate support to students at all levels and will demonstrate across the range of equipment and software within the portfolio of courses offered by the Institute. They are expected to contribute to interdisciplinary practice and to engage in research and training activities related to their practice to maintain currency of the student learning experience. The post holder must have a professional attitude, high enthusiasm, and a commitment to delivering student-centered learning. The primary location is Carmarthen. The post reports to the Academic Director for Design and Performing Industries and others as required, and may involve arranging Institute events and exhibitions on- and off-campus.
Responsibilities
* Supervise students in workshops and productions to provide knowledge and assistance as necessary.
* Demonstrate equipment and materials across Set Design & Production, Acting, and MA Portfolio.
* Set up equipment and maintain theatre/rehearsal spaces and workshops in a clean, tidy, safe, and secure manner.
* Oversee and maintain equipment; monitor stock control for theatres, rehearsal spaces and workshops.
* Demonstrate across the range of equipment and software within the portfolio of courses.
* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure appropriate support is provided to students at all levels.
* Contribute to opportunities for interdisciplinary practice across the Institute.
* Engage in research and training activities related to practice to maintain currency of the learning experience.
* Support the Academic Director for Design and Performing Industries and other colleagues in arranging Institute events and exhibitions, on- and off-campus.
