We work with Tier 1 and Tier 2 main contractors, developers and end clients on technically demanding projects that require strong commercial discipline and well-structured pre-construction processes.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior M&E Estimator to take ownership of estimating across electrical and mechanical projects. This is a hands‑on senior estimating role. The majority of your time will be spent pricing work, reviewing drawings and specifications, building cost plans, managing RFQs and setting clear assumptions and exclusions.
Alongside pricing, you’ll play an important commercial role by challenging scope, protecting margin and ensuring clean, structured handovers to the delivery team.
The role is primarily based from our Ware, Hertfordshire office, with flexibility for hybrid working once established. You’ll work closely with senior management and operations, with a clear opportunity to grow into a Head of Pre‑Construction role as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed M&E estimates from small works through to £1m+ packages
* Review drawings, specifications, ERs and tender documentation
* Build full cost plans including labour, materials, plant, prelims, subcontractors and risk
* Issue and analyse supplier and subcontractor RFQs
* Identify commercial risks, scope gaps and value engineering opportunities
* Support tender clarifications, interviews and commercial discussions
* Clearly define assumptions, exclusions and scope boundaries
* Ensure effective handover to project delivery teams
* Contribute to improving estimating templates, systems and cost libraries
What We’re Looking For
Essential
* Proven background in M&E estimating
* Experience pricing commercial or industrial projects
* Able to work autonomously and take ownership of estimates
* Commercially astute with a strong understanding of margin and risk
Desirable
* Experience working within Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor environments
* Design & Build experience
* Experience supporting or mentoring junior estimators
