Job Opportunity: Quantity Surveyor
Location: North London / Royston (travel across the South East required)
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 DOE
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
A well-established building services contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team, operating from their regional hub in Royston and overseeing projects primarily based in North London. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key commercial role in delivering high-impact projects, particularly within the social housing and refurbishment sectors.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will take full commercial responsibility for a portfolio of projects, working closely with operational teams and clients to ensure effective cost management, compliance, and contractual control from tender stage through to final account.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates and manage project budgets
Oversee procurement of subcontractors, materials, and suppliers
Produce and manage interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
Provide commercial advice to project teams throughout the lifecycle of each job
Ensure accurate preparation of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports
Monitor project performance against budgets and forecasts
Ensure compliance with CDM, building regulations, and relevant contractual frameworks
Identify and manage commercial risks, proposing mitigation strategies
Maintain strong communication with clients and stakeholders throughout project delivery
Key Requirements:
Time-served Quantity Surveyor with proven experience in UK construction, ideally in social housing or refurbishment
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, MCIOB, or equivalent)
Strong commercial acumen with in-depth knowledge of contract law, procurement, and cost control
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication with an ability to build rapport with clients and teams
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
