One To One Teaching Assistant – (Permanent linked with the needs of the child)

Pay Grade: G3.06

Between 20 and 30 hours per week, this is dependent on the needs of the child and exact hours will be confirmed at interview stage.

39 weeks per year (Term time + 1 week)

The Governors of this popular school are seeking to appoint a dedicated, hard-working and motivated individual to work as part of our team. The post on offer, to start as soon as possible, is as follows:

1:1 Teaching Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a caring and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for a child with epilepsy within our school community. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to ensure the child has full access to learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide individual support to a pupil with epilepsy in both classroom and wider school settings.
* Implement individual learning plans and strategies, promoting progress in line with the child's abilities and targets.
* Monitor the child's wellbeing and respond appropriately to their medical and emotional needs.
* Work with staff and parents to ensure a consistent, inclusive, and supportive approach.
* Support the wider class as directed, while maintaining a focus on the child's needs.
* Maintain accurate records of progress and observations.

Essential Skills & Qualities

* Experience of working with children, ideally in an educational setting.
* Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, epilepsy and how it may impact learning and wellbeing.
* Ability to remain calm, caring, and proactive in responding to medical or emotional needs.
* Strong communication skills to work effectively with staff, families, and professionals.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's development.

Desirable

* First Aid training or willingness to undertake relevant training.
* Experience supporting children with medical or additional needs.

NVQ3 in child education would be desirable but not essential.
