This is an excellent opportunity for a Procurement Officer to join a well-established organisation within the utilities sector, supporting day-to-day procurement operations at a major UK power generation site.
The Procurement Officer will play a key role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and efficient purchasing of goods and services across the business.
This Procurement Officer position is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on procurement role, working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers while supporting wider procurement objectives.
The Role – Procurement Officer:
As a Procurement Officer, your responsibilities will include:
1. Procuring goods and services in line with company procedures and ethical standards
2. Processing requisitions and raising purchase orders
3. Managing supplier queries and maintaining strong supplier relationships
4. Supporting the Procurement Manager with contract development and placement
5. Executing contracts as required, including consumables, plant spares, and ad-hoc purchases
6. Ensuring an uninterrupted supply of goods and services
7. Managing contracts with delegated authority up to £50,000
8. Supporting value-for-money initiatives and cost optimisation
9. Ensuring compliance with ESG, H&S, and environmental requirements
10. Producing reports, managing trackers, and maintaining accurate audit trails
11. Working closely with engineering, maintenance, finance, and operational teams
This Procurement Officer role is based primarily at Dinorwig Power Station and will involve collaboration across multiple UK sites.
Minimum Skills / Experience Required – Procurement Officer
12. Previous experience as a Procurement Officer, Buyer, or Purchasing role
13. Experience procuring goods and services, including high-value and call-off contracts
14. Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
15. Experience using procurement or MRO purchasing systems
16. Ability to negotiate with suppliers by phone and face-to-face
17. Understanding of contract law and procurement compliance
18. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
19. Experience within an industrial, utilities, or engineering environment (desirable)
