Role: Children Paralegal

A leading law firm is looking to recruit dedicated Children Paralegals for a permanent position.

The firm serves corporate entities and private individuals in over 25 practice areas and is recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners as a top tier firm. It holds Investors in People Gold Accreditation, LEXCEL, Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001-2013 accreditation and is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Family & Children Department Background

The Family & Children department is ranked and recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for family and matrimonial work, providing confidential advice with effective representation. The team includes practitioners with advanced accreditation in Children Law and Family Law, offering advocacy across court proceedings and ensuring clients receive a consistent, professional service. The department also assists high net‑worth individuals with divorce matters, including domestic abuse, adoption, child abduction, prohibitive steps orders, specific issues orders, injunctions, spousal and child maintenance, property, pensions and freezing injunctions.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Report directly to the Department Director
* Professional proactive approach, strong client‑care skills, and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients’ needs
* Assist with casework, including LAA funded and private client work, and undertake advocacy where required
* Attend clients, take instructions and prepare cases
* Handle correspondence
* Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
* Prepare draft documents, including witness statements and process evidence
* Attend conferences and court trips
* Maintain accurate time‑costing procedures
* Implement recommendations from monthly file reviews in a timely manner
* Ensure compliance with file‑management procedures


Key Skills Required

* Passionate and experienced in a broad range of Family & Children Law
* A strong academic background with a law degree
* Clear understanding and application of Family & Children Law
* Business acumen and ability to market the firm
* Excellent communication skills to work effectively with all persons
* Strong analytical and organisational skills, initiative, and appropriate use of guidance
* Excellent IT skills: familiarity with Microsoft Office and document‑management tools
