Outstation Technicians will be based from Clapham and are responsible for the maintenance of depot rolling stock and plant, and for supporting the operation of the depot.
Responsibilities
- With minimal supervision undertake maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan
- Carry out advanced fault finding and diagnostic activities
- Assist other team members with the development of technical skills
- Assist with the provision of technical support at incidents off depot
- Undertake any other duties as and when required
- Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation
- Specialise in areas of technical expertise
- Provide first line support at stations
Qualifications
- Experience in both mechanical and electrical fault finding
- NVQ level 3 or above in a relevant engineering field
- Relevant experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering environment, ideally within a rolling stock maintenance environment
- Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures
- Understands and cares for tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate
- Knowledge of health & safety including bio‑hazards, manual handling and COSHH
- Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic purposes
- Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications
- Ability to produce extensive technical reports
