Family Intervention Worker Location: Tameside Service: Early Help, Early Years & Neighbourhoods Division: Early Help Grade: F Reporting to: Senior Family Intervention Worker / Team Manager About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Family Intervention Worker to join the Early Help service, supporting the delivery of the Strengthening Families Model across Tameside. This role is neighbourhood-based and focuses on working intensively with children and families to prevent escalation, reduce repeat removals of children, and achieve meaningful, long-term change. Using Signs of Safety, you will work creatively and persistently with families, often where engagement is complex or challenging. You will hold a reduced caseload, allowing you to deliver purposeful, relationship-based interventions while working closely with a wide range of multi-agency partners. Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of children and families, using engagement, assessment and planning skills to identify need and deliver the right level of support Deliver evidence-based interventions, including Signs of Safety, across home, school and community settings Complete detailed Early Help Assessments and develop child- and family-led multi-agency plans that result in sustainable outcomes Coordinate and chair Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings and attend relevant professional forums Build strong links with adult services and social care, including supporting pre-birth work and ongoing family support Work collaboratively with services such as health, education, early years and voluntary sector partners Maintain accurate, high-quality case records, including chronologies and genograms, in line with legal and practice standards Challenge and escalate non-delivery by partner agencies where required Participate in reflective supervision and ongoing professional development Provide targeted intervention alongside allocated social workers where statutory involvement is in place Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding and statutory compliance at all times Working Arrangements 36 hours per week, worked flexibly Working hours between 8am and 8pm, across a 7-day rota, including evenings and weekends Community-based role with travel across the borough Essential Requirements Level 3 professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g. early years, youth work, health, education, community or social care) or equivalent knowledge gained through experience Proven experience engaging children and families, including those resistant to support Strong understanding of Early Help processes and multi-agency working Ability to assess risk, analyse information and make sound professional decisions Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Confident use of IT systems, case management software and Microsoft applications Understanding of professional boundaries and how to avoid creating dependency Ability to work independently, manage workload and escalate concerns appropriately Additional Information Enhanced DBS check required Flexible working essential to meet the needs of families Driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use preferred Values You will be expected to work in line with the council’s STRIVE values, promoting trust, respect, integrity, inclusion, engagement and support in all areas of practice.
