STEPS are looking for like-minded nurses who share the values and philosophies integral to the success of STEPS to join their team. You will encounter a number of different disabling injuries and illnesses and be an integral part of the team supporting clients to live as independently as possible. As a Rehabilitation Nurse you will be working closely with the clients, their family, and the Interdisciplinary team. You will be responsible for caring for the clients physical and emotional needs, following the nursing and rehabilitation care plans closely, whilst monitoring the clients progress throughout. These plans will need reviewing and changing to reflect the progress with rehabilitation goals. Rehabilitation nurses are fortunate enough to maintain high levels of clinical skills whilst also helping clients to exercise to gain strength, assist clients with adaptive devices and also act as educators and trainers within their role.


Main duties of the job

As a Senior Nurse at STEPS you will be ensuring that our clients receive high-quality, holistic nursing care throughout their journey with us. You will work as a key member of the inter-disciplinary team to support our clients, respecting their privacy and dignity and promoting independence. While you are carrying out your duties you will be aligned with STEPS values and behaviours at all times.

About us

STEPS is a purpose-built 23-bedroom, unique rehabilitation facility,able to deliver high-quality care from a range of medical and rehabilitationspecialists on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. It is a unique environment thatprovides rehabilitation to clients who have suffered serious injuries anddebilitating neurological illnesses.

STEPS has been designed to feel non-clinical, comfortable and homely andwe hope you will agree STEPS is like no other care facility you will haveworked in. Our specialists work collaboratively under one roof and clients canaccess a wide range of therapies and specialist robotic and VR rehabilitationequipment. You will be working within our interdisciplinary team comprised of Consultantsin rehabilitation medicine; spinal injuries, amputations, anaesthetics, plasticsurgery and pain management, physiotherapists; occupational therapists; speechand language therapists; neuro-psychologists; neurologic music therapist;prosthetic and orthotic specialists and amongst other nurses experienced incomplex care. Job responsibilities

To assess, implement and monitor individualcare plans for our clients.

To honour STEPS values by demonstratingappropriate behaviours and encouraging this in others.

To contribute to staff development i.e.appraisals and supervisions.

To ensure the provision of appropriatesupervision and support for members of the team.

To be involved in the day to day auditprocess as required.

To facilitate and co-ordinate the activitiesof the team.

To have responsibility and accountability forthe overall quality of client care delivery including meetings and reviews.

To lead the unit on a day to day basis in theabsence of senior management.

To involve clients and carers in thedevelopment and delivery of goals within the care plan.

To take the lead on the unit as and whendirected to provide clinical leadership, support and guidance to other staffmembers.

To act upon and escalate issues as requiredfollowing STEPS guidance and operating procedures.

To administer medications andtreatment as prescribed, monitor effects and report as defined.

To be compliant with theclinical governance requirements operating within STEPS procedures.

To be involved in clinicalaudits as and when directed.

To contribute and lead onspecific projects related to service delivery e.g. quality programmes,education and training and contributing to the setting and monitoring ofpractice standards.

Carrying out all proceduresrelating to the personal care and nutritional needs of clients dealing withemergencies as required.

To undertake duties andresponsibilities as defined in the work plan.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse on the NMC register
* Approved mentorship or teaching qualification
* Qualification / short courses in staff management / supervision
* Eligibility to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide sponsorship for this post.
* Masters Modules or degree in relevant area, e.g. rehabilitation, tissue viability
* Key trainer/train the trainer qualification.
* Leadership or supervisory course


Experience

* Experience of working as part of an IDT / MDT
* Experience of working with complex patients
* IT experience including Microsoft Office packages
* Experience of working within governance frameworks e.g. clinical systems / data management / complaints untoward incidents
* Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of the Data Protection Act
* Rehabilitation experience. e.g. amputee, neuro, spinal injuries
* Experience of liaising with professionals from wide ranging disciplines
* Experience of training package development and delivery across relevant subject e.g. Data Protection / Clinical Training
* Experience of audit functions

* Transferable skills that can be used to enhance a clients rehabilitation journey, e.g. playing an instrument, having an ability / understanding of accessible sports and hobbies

£38,750 to £43,900 a yearpro rata. Generous benefits package
