Job Description SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Bexley Are you an experienced HLTA or SEMH practitioner ready to take on a more impactful role supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a primary setting? SEMH HLTA | What’s on Offer: Competitive Outer London Salary (HLTA scale, dependent on experience) Permanent, full-time role starting May/June 36 hours per week, term-time only Work within a brand-new SEMH provision in a mainstream primary setting SEMH HLTA | The Role: Lead and deliver small group and one-to-one SEMH interventions across the primary phase Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and behaviour strategies Work closely with teachers to plan and adapt learning for individual needs Take responsibility for delivering planned lessons in teacher absence where appropriate Contribute to behaviour support plans, EHCP targets, and pupil progress tracking SEMH HLTA | Who We’re Looking For: HLTA qualification or substantial experience working at HLTA level Experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a school or similar setting Experience in PRUs, Alternative Provisions, or SEN schools is desirable but not essential A university degree is desirable but not essential Strong communication skills and confidence leading small groups Calm, resilient approach with the ability to manage challenging behaviour Ambition to contribute to the development of a new specialist provision Ribbons & Reeves are London’s leading Education Recruiters, supporting professionals to secure long-term and permanent roles, including this SEMH HLTA position in Bexley.
