Join our West Thurrock team as a Sampler Driver and play a key role in supporting our petroleum testing and inspection operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, travelling between client sites, and taking responsibility for accurate sampling and safe couriering of petroleum and chemical products.
About You
You will be a confident driver with strong communication skills and the ability to work safely, independently and with accuracy. Youll be comfortable following technical procedures, engaging with clients on-site, and managing physical aspects of the role. A willingness to learn sampling techniques and laboratory-related processes is essential, as training will be provided.
Key Requirements
Valid, clean driving licence
Good communication skills
IT literacy for completing logs and documentation
Ability to learn sampling techniques and petroleum product standards
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Comfortable working alone and using initiative
Physically fit (lifting and manual handling involved)
Ability to follow procedures, PPE requirements and COSHH guidance
About the Opportunity
This role combines daily driving and couriering duties with hands-on sampling across client facilities. Youll collect, transport and deliver samples safely, support the maintenance of sample storage areas, and uphold high standards of QHSE compliance. The work is varied and fast-paced, offering development within a technical and operational environment.
Key Activities
Carry out sampling of petroleum and chemical products using approved techniques
Travel to and from client facilities, transporting samples safely and legally
Complete daily vehicle condition checks and fleet sample logs
Collect, courier and deliver samples between client sites and the West Thurrock laboratory
Maintain sample retention stores in good working order
Highlight operational or QHSE issues to supervisors as needed
Follow all road traffic, site, and safety regulations at all times
Support miscellaneous operational duties as directed by line management
Use correct PPE and follow all risk assessments/COSHH instructions
Report accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
