Offer description

Our client, a recognised private sector transport operating business, is seeking a senior property lawyer with deep expertise in property leases and related land matters to provide interim legal support on a consultancy basis.

The role is remote and flexible, designed to fit around other professional commitments, with hours expected to average 40 per month (approximately 10 per week), though at peak times may rise to 15–20 hours per week.

This role will support the General Counsel in the provision of legal services relating to commercial property with a focus on rail transportation. The successful candidate will be someone who thrives working at pace and is comfortable taking the initiative, being proactive, clear, and commercial in supporting the business, while effectively working on large scale projects.

Scope of Work

* Advising on the negotiation, renewal, and termination of a wide range of property leases and licences.
* Supporting projects involving railway and transport-related land, including depots, stations, sidings, and trackside property.
* Advising on wayleaves, easements, and land access agreements affecting rail infrastructure.
* Providing commercial and pragmatic legal advice on landlord and tenant matters.
* Supporting property transactions including acquisitions, disposals, and development opportunities.
* Working closely with the General Counsel and property teams to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.

About You

* Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with at least 6 years’ PQE.
* Strong track record in commercial property law, with particular emphasis on leases.
* Rail sector experience or exposure to transport-related property portfolios is highly desirable.
* Able to manage complex lease portfolios and provide timely, solution-focused advice.
* Self-sufficient, commercial, and able to build strong relationships with stakeholders.

The role would suit a qualified UK-based Solicitor with a minimum 6 years PQE who is looking to compliment already existing work, or to work on an on going consultancy basis.
