Description We are seeking a strategic Product Owner to spearhead the development and optimisation of our on-site search experience to drive seamless product discovery. This role is a hybrid role based at Head Office in Enderby, Leicester with a starting salary of £50,689 About the Role: As the Product Owner for Search, you will take full ownership of the roadmap and daily operations for this critical product stream, reporting directly to the Product Manager for Product Discovery. You will act as the vital bridge between strategic vision and technical execution, translating business goals into actionable deliverables while ensuring search functionality remains performant and customer-centric. By leading the collaboration between engineering, UX, data science, and trading teams, you will champion a search experience that balances user needs with commercial performance. Your daily responsibilities involve managing and prioritising the product backlog based on deep customer insights and data analytics to enhance ranking logic and filtering. You will be accountable for defining project success criteria and KPIs, proactively managing risks and dependencies to ensure smooth delivery across our digital platforms. This involves constant refinement of the search journey, ensuring that every technical adjustment contributes to a more intuitive and efficient user experience that aligns with our overarching digital strategy. Beyond technical management, you will act as a key influencer among senior stakeholders and provide mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will lead cross-functional workshops to identify friction points in the customer journey and work closely with the broader product team to innovate the discovery experience. By staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, you will ensure our search capabilities remain a competitive advantage for the business. About you: Significant experience (4 years) in eCommerce or a similar digital product environment. Proven track record in product ownership, specifically leading a defined product stream from vision to delivery. Strong technical understanding of search systems, including indexing, relevancy tuning, and ranking algorithms. Prior commercial experience within a retail environment, specifically in Merchandising or Trading with exposure to sort orders and facets. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with development teams and navigate technical trade-offs. Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret complex search metrics and customer behaviour. Excellent leadership and negotiation skills, capable of influencing stakeholders and facilitating cross-functional workshops. Highly organised with a proactive approach to mitigating risks and removing blockers in a fast-paced agile environment.
