Principal Civil/Structural Engineer - Manchester or Aberdeen (Hybrid Working)
We are seeking an experienced Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer to join our growing team, contributing to the delivery of complex and high‑profile projects across the Natural Resources, Nuclear, Defence, Water, Energy, Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors.
Working as part of a collaborative engineering team-but often independently with minimal supervision-you will play a key role in producing high‑quality civil and structural deliverables. This includes analysis models, calculations, design inputs, sketches and technical documentation for a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Producing civil and structural engineering deliverables to a high technical standard
Providing technical guidance and ensuring quality control of outputs
Ensuring compliance with relevant processes, procedures and UK regulations
Working closely with construction teams to support buildability and safe delivery
Managing work to budget and ensuring variations are identified and compensated
Challenging assumptions and driving value‑engineering solutions
Communicating confidently with clients and promoting in‑house design capability
Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
Preparing clear, concise written reports across all project stages
About You
We are looking for someone who brings both technical depth and professional confidence:
Degree‑qualified and Chartered (CEng) Civil or Structural Engineer
Strong UK project experience with working knowledge of current UK design codes, H&S and environmental regulations
Proven expertise delivering projects in Natural Resources, Nuclear, Defence or related sectors
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead, collaborate and influence
A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Location & Working Pattern
This role can be based in our Manchester or Aberdeen offices, with flexibility for remote working. Occasional travel to other offices or project sites will be required in line with project needs
