Role details:
Our client, a leading defence company, are looking for an Electronics Assembly Technician to join their team on a contract basis - This role involves assembling, testing, and fault-finding of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies in line with defined processes and specifications.
Responsibilities:
Assemble and Test product ranges to defined demand plan in accordance with build/test instructions.
Inspect Printed Circuit Boards Assemblies (PCBA) in accordance with IPC-A-610.
Operate Ball Grid Array (BGA) rework station to repair PCBAs.
Operate and programme Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) machine.
Rework PCBAs, both SMT and through-hole in accordance with IPC-7711/7721
Perform Pad and track repairs on PCBAs in accordance with IPC-7711/7721
Ensure Test results are recorded on relevant documentation and stored appropriately
Perform Automated Test Equipment (ATE) tests in accordance with Production Test Specification (PTS) instructions.
Provide First Time Yield (FTY) information for work carried out.
Provide timely and accurate data for tasks undertaken including; time, quality, quantity and serialisation.
Assist Manufacturing and Business Unit Engineering with prototype assembly, test and new product introduction in to Manufacturing.
Assist in the identification of root causes, along with corrective and preventive measures.
Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
Maintain a clean, working environment conforming to highest standards of EHS, ESD, and 5S.
Ensure accurate completion of records in line with Quality Management System
Ensure that all business activity is conducted in line with company values, policies and ethics codes of conduct.
Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management.
What we are looking for:
Relevant experience in electronic/electro-mechanical assembly.
Competent in the use of hand tools, wiring, and PCBA repair.
Basic knowledge of Electronic principles and testing.
Experience of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques, e.g. Lean or Six Sigma
Sound working knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Good communications skills both written and oral.
Ability to follow instruction.
