Engineering Project Manager, UK field Engineering Team – Amazon
Location: Amazon South Marston, England, United Kingdom
Amazon Logistics is expanding and is looking to hire an experienced, hands-on Project Manager to own network-wide projects from concept to handover across the network of sites. This includes new site launches, dilapidations, and projects critical to the business from an engineering and facilities perspective. Requires full UK legal and statutory compliance knowledge to ensure project details exceed standards and align with existing processes.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate design efforts between internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimal solutions for the Amazon Logistics network, including equipment specifications and Fulfillment Centre layouts.
* Capital project management to include creation of conceptual drawings, equipment specifications, and bid documentation to facilitate a competitive bid environment.
* Provide on-site monitoring and enforcement of installation schedules and vendor quality with MHE vendors/subcontractors.
* Inspect prospective and completed facilities in accordance with corporate standards and procedures; follow up on snagging lists and warranty work.
* Provide leadership and coordination between internal departments and MHE vendors for multiple installation sites.
* Develop and manage budgets and contract documents including RFPs, change orders, purchase orders, and invoicing.
* Coordinate with local site management to ensure operator training, procedural compliance, and maintenance practices for new and existing MHE equipment.
* Create, submitting, and tracking Capex documentation to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
* Work closely with the UK Real Estate, IT and Process teams, and the software and Operations Integration teams to ensure on-time project delivery.
* Understand operational processes in detail, including the relevant WMS tools used daily.
Basic Qualifications
* B.S. Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
* Recognized experience in equipment design and layout of mechanical handling/conveyance/packaging systems.
* Proven technical leadership experience in development and implementation of large-scale, complex projects.
* In-depth knowledge of standard industry practices including Lean Manufacturing.
* Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, and related software.
Preferred Qualifications
* Ability to travel throughout the UK depending on project location.
* Ability to design, specify and layout MHE from manual to automated solutions.
* Ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external partners, contractors and vendors.
* Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment and lead multi-disciplinary projects.
* Leadership and technical guidance to field personnel; experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Toyota Production System.
* Ability to justify and deliver complex solutions to capacity constraints and switch from strategic to hands-on approaches.
