Job Title: Senior Care Assistant
Responsible to: Home Manager / Deputy Manager
Accountable to: Home Manager
Job Summary
The Senior Care Assistant leads and supports the care team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care to residents. You will oversee care delivery, maintaining industry-leading standards and ensuring care is provided according to each resident's assessed needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Support: Lead and support the care team, championing residents' safety, dignity, and well-being.
* Care Delivery: Ensure care is delivered according to best practice guidelines, meeting the individual needs of residents.
* Clinical & Care Governance: Act as a role model for clinical and care governance, ensuring high standards of practice.
* Supervision: Supervise care assistants on a day-to-day basis and through formal supervision processes.
* Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals: Liaise with GPs and other healthcare professionals to ensure residents receive the necessary medical support.
* Training & Development: Provide support for new team members, assist with inductions, and participate in ongoing training and competency assessments.
Specific Responsibilities
* Care Plans & Risk Assessments: Conduct and document care and risk assessments, developing care plans based on residents' needs and choices.
* Health & Safety: Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff, following health and safety policies, including fire safety and manual handling procedures.
* Medication Management: Safely administer and record medications, including controlled drugs, in line with policies and procedures.
* Infection Control: Maintain high standards of infection control and ensure residents' infection control needs are met.
* Record Keeping: Ensure clear, accurate, and up-to-date records of care delivery, and communicate effectively with other team members during handovers.
* Safeguarding & Confidentiality: Be knowledgeable about Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults policies and ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
* Promote Independence: Encourage residents to remain as independent as possible, supporting them in social, recreational, and physical activities.
Training & Development
* Stay up to date with clinical developments and ensure learning is shared and applied in practice.
* Complete all statutory and mandatory training as required by the company.
Safeguarding & Compliance
* Complete training on Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and the Mental Capacity Act
* Report any safeguarding concerns to the senior person on duty or on-call Regional Director.
Health & Safety
* Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and ensure a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
* Take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others at work.
Other Duties
* Undertake any other tasks reasonably required by senior staff to support the effective operation of the care home.

Pay: £14.60 per hour
