Ideally, candidates will have a strong agricultural background and preferably hold BASIS and FACTS qualifications. An additional advantage would be a PA 1+2 certificate. A full driving licence is essential.
The Role
This exciting role will be based in Brechin and will involve working alongside the Field/Store Manager, Assistant Accountant, and an experienced team of four full-time farm operatives.
Responsibilities will cover all aspects of the business, including the management of production, inspection, grading, and packing, with a commitment to high standards. Practical experience in growing seed potatoes is highly desirable.
* Planning and involvement in all seed production operations, including field selection, variety matching, fertiliser/chemical choice and application, and other agronomy aspects
* Manage and develop relationships with landlords and their agents to ensure access to optimal land for seed potato production
* Assist finance colleagues in building and maintaining annual budgets and cash-flow projections
* Lead machinery replacement policies and procurement processes
* Procure key inputs such as fertiliser, fuel, and pesticides in a timely and cost-effective manner
* Maintain detailed crop and pesticide records
* Manage crop storage, including loading, curing, grading, and scheduling to align with seed sales
* Plan, grade, and pack to meet delivery schedules
* Maximize efficiency across all production stages
* Manage all staff and contractors involved in production
* Oversee health and safety compliance on-site
