Role Overview
Jacobs is leading the transformation of the UK water sector. As an experienced Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the specification, design, and delivery of electrical solutions across the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through commissioning.
Responsibilities
* Electrical Engineering Excellence – subject matter expert in multidisciplinary projects.
* Requirement Management – develop and manage Electrical & Industrial Control requirements to meet contract KPIs.
* Innovate – contribute to value engineering and buildability workshops for water treatment plants.
* Design & Specification – develop detailed engineering specifications, designs and drawings for pumping stations, SKID systems, chemical dosing treatment plants, and distribution networks.
* Quality, Safety and Governance – ensure solutions comply with regulatory and safety standards, embedding constructability and commissioning requirements into designs.
* Technical Analysis – investigate and analyse existing assets, recommend improvements, produce complex calculations.
* Collaborate – support project engineers, design managers and on‑site delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
* Project Management – contribute to design management, scheduling, milestone delivery, risk management, change control, and financial forecasting.
* Team & Culture – foster a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, mentoring and professional growth within the electrical discipline.
Qualifications
* Working toward or holding chartered status (e.g., IET or equivalent).
* Deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, from concept through commissioning and operation.
* Proficient in electrical design: equipment specification, single line diagrams, GA drawings, schematics; experienced in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP.
* Knowledge of power distribution systems: LV/MV distribution, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, calculations and protection studies.
* Experience with pumps & motor control: pumps, blowers, mixers, dosing, solids/fluids treatment systems, VSDs and inverters.
* Commercial awareness – understanding of project budgets, change management and cost control.
