2026 Graduate Programme - Transport & Infrastructure - Civil at WSP in the UK & Ireland
We are seeking graduates to join our Civil teams who are adaptable and eager to learn in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory consultancy. You will work in a collaborative environment on a variety of clients and projects across our specialist services.

* Civil - Bridge Engineering: London, Bristol, Cardiff, Wrexham, Exeter, Truro, Birmingham, Manchester, Carlisle, Newcastle, Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth (Perthshire), and Belfast.

* Civil - Aviation – Airfield Engineering: London
* Civil - Pavement Engineering: Derby, Reading or London
Overview of the role
As a Graduate in the Civil team you will work on exciting and innovative projects across our specialist services. You can apply to work in one of our engineering teams which include bridges, airport planning and advisory, airfield engineering, maritime engineering, asset management and pavements. Each team offers hands-on experience, early responsibility and cross-disciplinary collaboration on both small and large-scale projects, supporting professional growth. Graduates will benefit from a robust pipeline of work and strong mentorship from experienced engineers.
Our Civil teams and day-to-day activities
* Bridge Engineering
Day-to-day activities may include bridge inspections, design and assessment, asset management and supervision of contractors, project management, tendering and business development.
* Aviation – Airport Planning & Advisory
Deliver planning and advisory services including master planning, demand forecasting, capacity analysis, airside and terminal modelling, sustainability advice, bids and proposals, and emerging markets research (e.g., sustainable aviation fuels and AAM/eVTOLs).
* Aviation – Airfield Engineering
Assist with airfield infrastructure design for UK and international airports, using modern software and 3D modelling; collaborate with senior engineers on large-scale projects; explore VTOL/eVTOL and other new technologies.
* Maritime Engineering
Work on port facilities and coastal infrastructure with opportunities across the UK and internationally, supporting energy transition port repurposing and a range of multidisciplinary projects.
* Pavement Engineering
Involves pavement assessment, design and asset management for aviation, maritime, streetscapes and highways, focusing on cost efficiency and reducing embodied carbon.
Graduate Development Programme
Two-year programme designed to support personal and professional development through blended learning, core business and professional skills training, mentoring for professional registration, and extensive on‑the‑job experience. You will be supported to pursue chartered status with bodies such as ICE and IStructE.
What we look for
* You will have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a relevant subject (bachelor’s or master’s).
* A passion for engineering, the built environment and infrastructure.
* A desire to solve problems creatively and the ability to share new ideas.
* Eligibility to apply and willingness to start in April or September 2026.
