We're looking for a Senior Accountant / Client Manager to join a reputable and growing firm of chartered accountants in Northampton .

About the Role In this key role, you'll manage a varied portfolio of SME clients across multiple sectors. You'll be responsible for overseeing the preparation of accounts, tax returns, and advisory services, while building strong relationships and acting as a trusted adviser.
You'll lead client meetings, supervise junior staff, and ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking practice with a strong local presence.
Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact
Prepare and review statutory accounts and tax returns for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
Provide proactive advice on tax planning, business structure, and compliance
Conduct client meetings and build long-term, trusted relationships
Supervise and mentor junior staff, supporting their development
Work closely with the partners to identify opportunities for new services or growth within your portfolio
Ensure all deadlines are met and compliance requirements are fulfilled
What We're Looking For ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
At least 4–5 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice
Strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation and tax
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confident in managing client relationships and discussing financial matters clearly
Experience with cloud-based software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
