Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the ENT team at BHRUT as a fixed term HVLC consultant with an interest in Rhinology. This post is designed to support the department in the efficient use of theatres and clinics, working on a flexible 10PA rota. The department delivers a comprehensive and specialised ENT service to a population of over 750,000 and collaborates closely with Otology and Rhinology specialists. The team maintains close working relationships with maxillofacial surgery, neurology, plastic surgery, and radiology. Our audiology department, speech therapy department, and Cancer Nurse Specialists provide crucial support to Head and Neck patients.
Role details
The post holder will share with other Consultants and Specialty Doctors in the assessment and treatment of ENT A&E referrals in the “Hot Clinics” and other GP referrals, delivering high quality patient care from admission to discharge. The role emphasises helping to meet waiting list targets and address current challenges. The case-mix will cover all aspects of ENT surgery, and the applicant should have specialist training in all aspects of ENT surgery with the ability to demonstrate skill and experience across all areas, including Paediatric surgery.
Facilities and environment
The outpatient department at Queen\'s Hospital is equipped with modern facilities and access to cutting-edge narrow band imaging technology for early diagnosis. ENT theatres include the latest CO2 Laser, 4K microscope, and endoscope to manage cancer patients. The service is supported by a well-managed audiology and speech therapy department, with dedicated Cancer Nurse Specialists for Head and Neck patients.
About the Trust

We were the most improved Trust in England for A&E performance in 2023/24, are no longer in special measures, and our Chief Executive was recognised in the Health Service Journal. Technology and future plans
We expect to introduce an electronic patient record next year, enabling accessible records across seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health for clinical teams and patients.
