French Teacher Training
About the role:
You will be training to be a French teacher - this is a great opportunity to train to teach outstanding lessons and therefore help pupils achieve excellent academic results. You will be based in one of our schools on a full-time basis, spending the whole academic year watching your students develop each day.
About Ark Teacher Training:
Ark Teacher Training (ATT) is a school-based programme offering the perfect mixture of theory and classroom practice to develop you into the best teacher you can be. By training with us, you will be directly making a positive impact on young people’s lives through high-quality teaching and thoughtful consideration of all backgrounds and needs, making educational equity a reality.
We are very proud to have received our second consecutive ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted in all categories! There are only a few ITTs in the UK that can say the same. Our training is comprehensive and practical; you will be able to achieve your QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) all in one year. Our programme is also incredibly supportive and bespoke, meaning you can progress at your own pace.
How we support our trainee teachers:
* School orientation week to help you get to know your school and department (June/July 2024)
* Summer school to prepare you to for your first lessons in September (5 – 16 August 2024, virtual and in-person)
* 3 layers of mentoring support (in-school subject mentor, ATT lead teacher in each school, ATT professional studies tutor)
* Mixture of independent and team teaching across KS3 and KS4
* Weekly training sessions for all trainees (one afternoon each week) plus weekly feedback to implement and build on in school
* Comprehensive wellbeing support through ATT and Goldsmiths University (our PGCE partner)
* 3-week second school placement coordinated by your ATT tutor, along with 2 additional observation days in an alternative setting and a primary school
* Permanent contracts available along with supportive ECT Induction programme from September 2025
* Relevant and developmental CPD during and beyond your ATT training year

Key requirements:

* Hold an undergraduate bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) prior to beginning your teacher training (i.e. you will hold your degree by 31 July 2024 latest)
* Degree and/or A level in the subject you want to teach (or a closely related subject)
* Evidence of a commitment to working with young people
* Experience of overcoming challenges successfully
* Ability to demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
* An aptitude for teaching
* Right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the training year (August 2024 through August 2025 minimum)
Diversity and Inclusion:
Our programme places heavy emphasis on diversity both within recruitment of our trainees and within the training. It’s incredibly important that pupils have a rich and diverse teaching body to learn from; they’re able to see themselves in positions of leadership and authority, while their perceptions and world-views are broadened.
