Department Overview The Motion Control Software team is responsible for the design and delivery of the Vehicle Motion Control software for the next generation of Aston Martin vehicles. The Vehicle Motion Controller is a centralized controller responsible for coordinating vehicle systems, including powertrain and chassis, to achieve optimal dynamic vehicle response. Job purpose To design and deliver the Vehicle Motion Control system, covering a variety of engineering tasks, from requirements definition to system validation, ensuring integration with Chassis, Stability, Powertrain and HV systems. Key duties and responsibilities Define and manage system requirements for the Vehicle Motion Control, including architecture and interfaces with other vehicle systems, such as Chassis, Powertrain, HV and ADAS, ensuring vehicle performance targets are met Support feature development, attribute and behaviors definition, and vehicle performance target setting Maintain system architecture and network design Support Functional Safety activities according to ISO26262 and Failure Mode Analysis Ensure system compliance with applicable regulation / homologation requirements Define warning and degradation strategies, including specification of diagnostic Lead system validation and verification, support testing activities on vehicle, bench, SIL, HIL and other test properties. throughout program milestones Lead issue investigation, root cause analysis, and manage issues to closure Support vehicle activities as required, including calibration, testing and data logging Liaise with and manage external suppliers to ensure timely delivery of software and relevant documentation and achieve Software team goals Support the definition of strategies to allow AML to deliver competitive solutions Support the specification of SW / HW tools required for the development activity Distribute knowledge within the wider team as required Experience and Qualifications Essential experience Strong systems engineering background, ideally 5 years’ experience within an automotive vehicle manufacturer, supplier or consultancy, developing automotive systems related to Chassis, Powertrain, Stability, HV, ADAS or similar Hands-on experience in system requirements and test cases definition for safety critical automotive systems Experience with Functional Safety (ISO2626) software processes Experience in system and / or software validation, including SIL, HIL, vehicle. Understanding of Automotive Diagnostic, DTC's, service routines Experience in system architecture definition, and system integration for automotive applications Preferred experience Experience with Cybersecurity software processes Experience with the Mathworks toolchain (e.g. Matlab, Simulink, ,) Familiar with ASPICE SW development process Understanding of automotive homologation and legal / regulatory requirements and testing Experience with automotive tools for testing, data logging, feature calibration and issue investigation (such as Vector CAN-based tools, ETAS INCA etc.) Understanding of vehicle dynamics Familiarity with MS Office suite Essential experience and qualifications Educated to Degree level in Electrical / Systems / Software Engineering or related discipline Preferred Education/ Qualifications Member of the IMechE, IET or similarly recognized international institution Required skills/ Behaviours Strong communicator with experience working across multiple disciplines Additional requirements Full UK driving license required.
