Quantity Surveyor
Location: Newtownards
Hours of work: Monday - Friday / 9am - 5pm (37 hours p/w)
Salary: £ p/h
Duration: Temporary ongoing
The role:
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our client, a large public sector organisation. You will play a key role in ensuring the effective commercial management of the organisation's assets. You will oversee high-quality planned works and compliance-related investments while ensuring affordability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist in the development of specifications, drawings, and bills of quantities to facilitate tendering and procurement processes.
2. Provide expert guidance on contract terms and conditions to manage NIHE's commercial risk effectively.
3. Manage investment budgets, conduct benchmarking reviews, and provide financial forecasting.
4. Evaluate tenders, check documentation, and administer contracts to ensure value for money.
5. Collaborate with contractors and consultants to monitor project progress and resolve issues.
6. Authorise work instructions and invoices within designated approval levels.
7. Ensure compliance with NIHE's policies, data protection regulations, and health and safety requirements.
8. Support the development of risk mitigation strategies and contribute to stock and option appraisals.
9. Contribute to the formulation and implementation of NIHE's Corporate Strategy.
Essential Criteria:
10. A degree (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) in a Building/Construction related discipline with at least 1 year's relevant experience. OR
11. A BTEC Higher (or equivalent Level 5 qualification) in a Building/Construction related discipline with at least 2 years' relevant experience.
